Education and professional development

  • Born in Split on April 17, 1976.
  • Completed Zdravstvena škola in Split in 1994.
  • Graduated from the University of Zagreb School of Medicine in 2001, having served as a student demonstrator in the Department of Pathology for four semesters.
  • Completed postgraduate studies in Biology (Immunology and Physiology) at the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb, in 2003.
  • Passed the specialization exam in dermatovenerology in 2008 and has been employed at the Clinic for Skin and Venereal Diseases, KBC Zagreb, ever since.
  • Earned a Master of Science degree in 2007 and defended a doctoral dissertation titled “The Role of Adhesion Molecules in Inflammatory and Healthy Skin” in 2010, obtaining a PhD in science.
  • Published 5 works and 10 abstracts in Current Contents, 11 works in SCI-Expanded, 6 publications in PubMed, 38 conference presentations, and 35 educational texts.
  • Attended additional training in phlebology at KBC Ljubljana and KB Dubrava in Zagreb. Completed the “Doppler Ultrasonographic Diagnostics of Vascular Diseases” course in 2007 and the “Phlebology School 1, 2, 3” courses at KBC Ljubljana in 2013.
  • Actively participated in international professional gatherings on chronic venous diseases in Slovenia, England, Italy, and Austria.
  • Appointed as a scientific associate in 2014 and promoted to senior scientific associate in 2020, specializing in clinical medical sciences.
  • Became an honorary assistant professor in 2023 in the field of dermatovenerology.

  • Completed a medical internship at the Fran Mihaljević Clinic in Zagreb and passed the state exam in 2002.
  • Permanent member of the healthcare team at the Reference Center for Contact Allergy of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Croatia and the outpatient department for allergology, immunology, and occupational skin diseases at the Clinic for Dermatovenerology, KBC Zagreb.
  • Continuously involved in postgraduate teaching in dermatovenerology and led four professional training courses for medical professionals on chronic venous insufficiency from 2009 to 2012.
  • Co-organized nine professional training courses for community health nurses, including workshops on chronic venous insufficiency.
  • Engaged in the education of medical students, leading practical sessions in dermatovenerology, and contributing to postgraduate programs in dermatovenerology.
  • External associate at the Croatian Catholic University, providing education in nursing studies.
  • Awarded the “Borislav Nakić” scientific award by the Academy of Medical Sciences of Croatia in 2008 and received recognition from the Croatian Medical Association in 2011.
