- Information and assistance with referrals for further examinations
The selection of tests is determined by the doctor based on a risk assessment, meaning the doctor will evaluate which sexually transmitted infection agents the user should be tested for, depending on the risks they have been exposed to.

It is important to assess the risk of exposure to sexually transmitted infections in the following situations:
- If you did not use protection (condom) during sexual intercourse with an unknown person or someone with risky behavior
- If you have ever used intravenous drugs
- If you have had or suspect you have a sexually transmitted disease
- If you have gotten a tattoo, piercing, or undergone acupuncture in inadequate (non-sterile) conditions
- If you want to protect your current or future sexual partner from possible consequences of your past
Counseling and testing will help you:
- Overcome fears related to risks you may have been exposed to in the past
- Avoid unintentionally spreading the infection to others
- Protect a child from possible infection in case of pregnancy
- Receive earlier and more successful treatment in case of a positive result
